Happy Birthday to Me!
Update 19 Dec 08: this mixtape is going to be defunct by end of 2008 because of closed minded, greedy corporate types. Read more about it here. Oh well, it was a really cool idea while it lasted.
yes i know, the url is misleading. this is a prime example of my inability to plan ahead. this is a hodge podge of my random thoughts, crazy ideas, projects and stories of marriage mishaps, adventures & misadventures.
Lately, I've been scheduling my blogs so I at least had a post a day, especially with this Tasmanian series I've been on.
I'm too tired today, unfortunately, to do another Tassie post so I've decided to put that on hold for now. Work's been real hectic since I got back from my short break and I just don't have the energy at the moment.
Why don't you listen to some Dishwalla while I'm resting?
Happy 08.08.08!

We got back yesterday, touched down at around 5 o'clock in the afternoon. It was a GREAT weekend away. We were blessed with mostly good weather with Sunday and Monday bright, sunny and not too cold.
Since I took about a gazillion photos, the Tassie trip rundown will have to be a serial. I'm serious -- I had 1gb of memory on my camera and I had 9 shots left by the time we got back.
I'm still downloading the pictures from my camera so bear with me. Plus, we're watching Spooks Season 4 so that takes priority for now.
I'll leave you with one of my favourite songs from one of my favourite artists, Eric's Song by Vienna Teng. No reason for the song choice, just wanted to share her music.
This reminds me, I need to buy her other album from iTunes.
Update (a few days later):
I have now learned the virtue of listening to the song before putting it on my blog. I've just realised that the link I initially put up was only a partial song. How rude.
I've now uploaded a full version.
Just finished editing my iMovie project of pictures from the get-together at the boys' house for Jim and Tuan's birthdays last month.
The music is by The Dandy Warhols (Bohemian Like You).
We went to see Hancock tonight and I was going to blog about it but decided it didn't merit its own entry. It wasn't bad. Just not good enough, imho anyway. It was a somewhat different concept, I give you that, but at the same time it was familiar in that it was still a Hollywood movie with rehashed themes. Oh well, not a bad way to spend a couple of hours with the hubby.
Right after the movie ended and we were getting up to leave, my bag started buzzing. I was about to answer my phone when the ringing stopped (voicemail). I looked at the screen and it said "withheld." I knew immediately it was my dad. He's been after me to edit some of his stuff (he's recently retired and is setting up his own consultancy which I think is absolutely fabulous) and I hadn't had a chance to look at them yet.
We weren't even out of the cinema yet when D's phone starts vibrating and, sure enough, it was my dad. His first words to me were, Why aren't you answering your phone? A continent away and he still manages to be demanding. I love that man so. I consulted with the consultant-to-be (my sister's words, not mine) and then it was my mom's turn to ask me advice on some of her stuff. Then, of course, my sisters had to get on the phone to me.
You've gotta love technology. Sometimes I feel like I haven't left Manila at all, what with my family just a phone call away.
But, then sometimes I feel like I'm a million miles away from them, especially on days I need a hug. That's when technology falls short cause nothing can take the place of a simple hug of a loved one.
I miss my family but what I'm trying to accept is, this is home. Melbourne is my home. At least for now.
And on that senti (pinoy speak for sentimental) note, I leave you with another Bamboo song (you have to bear with me, I'm obsessing about them at the moment). A cover of a Carole King classic. Fitting, eh?
They're called Bamboo and they're Pinoy. How cool is that? Listen to more of their music here.
They even do a decent cover of Pearl Jam's Alive.
I can't listen to them enough. I bought their new albums when I was back home and promptly left one of them in my parents' house. Now, if only my family can mail it to me soon (not so subtle hint, yes).
It's a cover of a Tears for Fears song and was featured in the movie, Donnie Darko (which D & I watched on video last weekend). Lately, I've been hearing this song everywhere I go. Love it. It's going to become the most played song on my ipod...
I could make excuses (work too busy, net connection down, etc) but I won't. I was busy living my life and that's that.
To compensate, here are some pictures from D's birthday BBQ.
Here's some music too.
